The second day of the prestigious international basketball tournament, which kicked off on Saturday June 01 in Cairo, Egypt, saw Iran tasting a 45-64 defeat in the face of Italian opponents.
The first quarter ended 19-11 in favor of Italy while the second one tied at 11. The European side also gained the upper hand in the last two quarters of the showdown 21-13 and 13-10.
Persian basketball players, who are competing in Pool D of the tournament, had also conceded a defeat against the US in their opening match on Sunday.
Iran is slated to play its last group-stage debut against Angola on Tuesday.
A total of 16 teams are participating in the 13th edition of FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup which will run through July 09.
Basketball outfit of Iran had won the berth to the international tournament by finishing first in the 7th edition of the West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Junior Championship.
